Oil leakage

Post by Andrew Evers »

Just driven my 1st VW T25 home and it's sprung a leak. Not much technical knowledge, but I do have the Bentley manual and am keen to learn.

Do you have any ideas what could of caused this and how I should go around repairing it. I've tried the wiki and searched the forum, but am still at a loss.

It's a 1989 2.1l petrol. LHD

Cheers
Andrew

Crankshaft oil seal is the likely suspect for me

Gearbox off, flywheel off, change the clutch while your there

Just to update, the guy I bought the van from agreed to pay for a new crank shaft oil seal and get it repaired at a vw specialist about 20 miles from where I live. I paid the mechanic £100 for a new clutch and picked it up last week. The arm rest had also bust and the mechanic had a spare one so gave it to me for free. I'm well chuffed and now also have a garage I can use as my local won't touch the van!! There's still the odd drop off oil, but it's not leaking like it was. Cheers for the advice and help.
