Heater Controls

Post by lamb125 »

Trying to work out why air blows from the side vents, the ones that blow directly onto the drivers and passengers legs without the fan actually been switched on. Just to check my understanding here; the top slide control knob is for the windscreen, the middle for heat control, and the bottom for...? Unsure actually

Bottom for the foot well. fully to the right turns off the vent to your legs
All levers to the right is the demist position

there's a little lever to turn them off on the side vents next to the door.
These vents blow hot air in later vans.

No sorry maybe that wasn't quite clear
the little lever on the side vent shuts the side vents by the door.

the bottom lever on the dash, shuts the bottom central vents into the foot well.

if the bottom vents continue to let air into the cabin after they are shut, then the mechanism needs to be checked.
Also the foam sealer usually rots and air is let past the flaps

Thanks for that, I'll take a closer look over the weekend to see if the seals have perished.

It's great. I never use the fan because the T25 fresh air vent system is so good. Get's the van nice and toasty in no time when driving

My heater controls are a bit of a puzzle and I would love the definitive answer on what the knobs do:

Thanks

By the way I also have aircon though since the recent engine change I have no pump and plan to remove the system.
Think the controls are separate though this could be my mistake and part of the puzzle.

My van is a humble early transporter and my panel looks like http://www.ekmpowershop16.com/ekmps/sho ... -312-p.jpg

Top lever: Right for windscreen demist. Left off

2nd lever: Heating. Right Hot. Left Cold

3rd lever: Right air to footwell. Left air to windscreen? and side vents? Not sure but find a happy happy compromise

4th lever: For fancy dans with a heater in the back or ducting to the rear or even aircon

Knob on right is for the fan

All this could be found out simply by turning on the fan and playing with the levers

Hi,

I have exactly the same set of levers in the front of my caravelle and found a copy of the manual on the internet somewhere....

So,

Top lever, right 100% airflow, left 0% (ish, some gets in somehow)
2nd lever, right is hot, left is cold.
3rd lever, right is all the air to the windscrean, left is all the air to the footwell
4th lever, For the air vents in the back of caravelle, just below the roof (4? 2 each side? Cannot remember now, but maybe only two). So, left, with the picture of the four blue rectangles, is air to these vents, right is no air to these vents.

The rear heater (and coolant leaker in my case ) is controlled by another switch to the right of the steering wheel (i have LHD) with 3 settings. The heat is controlled in an all or nothing way by a plastic lever on the side of the heater (where said coolant goes on holiday from in my van!).

I needed to learn this the other week as it was -15 outside when I drove to the mountains!

I also need to fix the coolant leak, found a helpful link for that the other day on here - club8090 is great!!!
