Water Pipe Fitment

I have the reducers and cut the inserts out just waiting for large enough jubilee clips to be delivered.

I messaged the guy on eBay you linked to and those are for the smaller pipes, he said he has some larger ones but waiting for him to get back to me. Hopefully tomorrow I will have the clips and see if these reducers work without leaks.

How much were the plastic pipes?
I have a brand new one in the garage,mind you one would have been no good to you.

Off on a tangent I know but viewing the rdiator from behind which is the inlet as i am replacing my coolant pipes with the plastic ones and did not mark up the old ones on removal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,
I'm asking as I am doing a Scooby conversion and have no VW engine for reference, I made my own former and used sections of my original pipework to form new inserts for the plastic pipes.

The inlet is usually the one at the bottom of the rad. I'll be able to tell you for sure tomorrow because I'm changing over my leaky pipes for shiny new ones that arrived from Brickwerks earlier this week.

Hi Mark. Yes, from the pump to the bottom of the rad, and from the top of the rad to the top of the engine.

Ok, so all the pipes are attached, and I've put in coolant and water to the point where I'm starting to bleed the system, and then I notice coolant coming out from under the pressure cap on the header tank. Deep joy.

So, the pressure cap is obviously fubared. It is one of the earlier 'push down and twist' types and not one of the later screw types. Am I likely to be able to get a replacement at somewhere like Halfords (i.e. is it a standard cap across many manufacturers) or am I looking at a dealer? I had a look on Brickwerks and the only one listed there seems to be the later screw-in one.

Until I can make the header tank pressure-tight I'm not going to get an air-free system, gggrrrrr.......

Any help or advice gratefully received!!

I will be fitting my plastic pipes this weekend, just fitted my ferrules after heating the plastic pipes to pop them in, when cold they gripped nicely.

I too had a problem fitting my 2 replacement plastic pipes ( 2nd hand from E-bay £40) through the hole in the chassis. So I got rid of the hole !!!! After struggling and cussing for hours I angle ground off the bottom of the hole and after fitting pipes dead easy fitted a strap made of builders strip metal with holes in over the gap with a couple of Nyloc nuts and bolts and made a hole again !! . Easy Peasy. Mind the new pipes don't block the throw of the gear lever mechanism.
