Water Pump sprung a leak

1.9DG Early Water Pump and coolant system

Parked up this evening and thought the engine sounded a bit rattly. Looked around the back of the van and noticed a very small pool of fluid on the floor and could see a intermittent drip in the light of my torch. So I looked under the van and noticed I had coolant trickling out of what appeared to be a hole in the water pump (arrowed on the picture).

I have also posted a picture of the brickwerks early water pump and marked where the leak seems to be coming from with an red arrow.

I also think the rattly noise was the pump. Is there a bearing inside that can rattle when old?

Are there any other parts I should source/order at the same time?

Coolant leaking from this hole indicates a failed bearing seal. Coolant ingress into the bearing results in premature bearing failure so as you point out, the pump will need replacing.

Does a new early water pump, from brickwerks or GSF, come with the necessary gaskets/seals?

Going to get new gaskets and bolts for the metal water pipe, that comes from the pump, too

I've done this job on my system. I got the new pump from JK. If I remember rightly, the only seal it came with was the rubber o ring that sits between the block and pump. I made up new gaskets from sheets, which work fine.

The hardest bit for me was seperating the pump from the thermostat housing. There's two long bolts holding it together which can get quite corroded. I got one out, but broke the head off the second. Luckily i'd got enough play to snap the two bits apart and then drift the remains out of the hole.
