Thanks guys, really appreciate it :D
I found (as CovKid said the other day on the rustoleum thread) that there isn't really a ratio for mixing. I think you just get to tell when you have the right mix. I found in these conditions that it needs to be sticky enough to go on, but thinned enough so the coat evens out and becomes smooth. I started with a 20% white spirit mix when I started the van. But recently, I have not measured it....just a bit of trial and error!

As for applying it, I put a coat of rustoleum on the entire panel then without loading it up with any more paint just keep going over what I have done to get rid of the bubbles in the paint. Don't press too hard on the roller though as it makes even more bubbles!! Good quality rollers is everything as well, so the sponge does not come off on your nicely new painted panel.

Rather a long answer, but hope it helps :ok

Will wait for panel to fully dry now (a few weeks) then use Meguiars Ultimate Compound to finish

Gave the tired exhaust a bit of a facelift with some high temp matt black spray paint. Looks quite good I reckon!
Shame about the dents on the panel above  wasn't me!

Thanks, going to rub down first coat at the weekend and apply the second coat so should get better coverage over the black. Trying to apply thin coats though to prevent runs, and to minimise rubbing down between coats.

The colour is Marlin Blue.

Cheers :ok

Folkers - your van looks mint. Could you tell me what colour Rustoleum (Ral code) you bought? It looks very much like Medium Blue (LH5G). My van has faded after 22 years and am keen to redo my paint job using the roller method. Thanks.

Ral is 7322. Although it is quite a light blue rather than a mid blue. Ral 7323 is more of a mid blue.

Really appreciate the comments guys, I will add some more pics on mon or tue hopefully then should gave another coat of paint on with better coverage over the black!

Cheers, Andy

:pimp Man you make me so jealous! I have been doing nothing except finding the rust, digging the worst of it out, cleaning it and treating with vactan. Seems a never ending job at the moment. You've done a neat job so far, nice one. :ok
