Culture Club

Post by silverbullet »

I'm not going to be one to knock CampervanCulture just for the sake of it, as there's obviously been a fair bit of work to get it all up and running but I think what's confusing people is: what is it's purpose exactly?
It's great syncro publicity and all that...it just seems to come across as more Blag than Blog at the moment, like you're fishing for freebies at every opportunity with phrases like "Get these spacers from Henning, it's really easy to pay him through paypal etc"
It does come across a bit toady maybe? Unless of course you're getting paid for the product reviews, in which case it's a commercial venture and time for you to become marked men like the other traders?
Just my impression of things, no offence meant. Some of us have given you a bit of a leg-pull about it but that's all part of the game here, isn't it?

I stumbled across it by accident after seeing it on Jeds sig. Just looks like a couple of hippies in syncros to me

In all fairness it looks like a couple of anoraks who have been into syncros for quite a while giving half decent advice to newbs. Dont know about freebies as they have pretty much done everything to their vans so have nowt to gain, i thought it was quite fair in NOT being biased towards one supllier and offering numerous/various suppliers and differing alternatives.

did you/your parts get a mention?

Stinking hippies!

Why not, all my mates do

Just me and Jed having some fun. Jed's videos on youtube proved quite popular so we came up with the idea of posting some more well put together stuff in one place.

We could have waited a few months saved everything up and posted then there would have been a variety of stuff. Just happens that the first few articles has been stuff bought and fitted or made and fitted, I have been meaning to level my van like that for 4+ years, finally pulled my finger out.

As for the Henning plug, just happened to be where Jed bought his spacers. Could have been anywhere.

Funnily enough,i was gonna do a post on those westy swivel base parts I helped you out with and photographed fitting  perhaps you'd rather I didn't?

I think the idea is good. Watching video of how something is done is much better than a load of pages of mixed opinions on a forum.

If you were to use it as a money making tool the best way would be to get as many followers as possible and sell advertising space to Syncro services etc.

Jake you remind me of Ed from Wheeler dealers!

Keep it up and I think a tank extraction should be your next video! :run

Personally i find the videos all inspirational and make me want to do stuff to the van, and the lastest video offers a solution, be it long term or the opportunity to try something out before wedging out dosh to whom ever offer what they want at a price they want to pay be it syncro services or any other company and i saw mentioning "paypal" as an easy option for using an overseas trader and having used Syncro Services myself for the experience pleasant as i have Brickwerks and no doubt other companies i will use.

I think the effort Jed and Jake go to is outstanding and commendable and if it gets me sorted then bring on the next one :ok

Well in that case   No but seriously fair due lads don't know about the culture part ? maybe a rendition of swan lake in a syncro but then again the thought of Jed in a tutu maybe not   I think that regards suppliers this has been looked and been addressed so good luck with the future. Personally wouldn't be basing any mechanical work on just a video or posts on a forum thats what the Bently workshop manual is for

Didn't strike me that they're fishing for anything. Just looks like a cross between a video diary and a build thread. Most people can't be arsed to do either so good luck to them.

It's like all TV, you take from it what you want. Information, entertainment, inspiration or just turn it off.

Its a bit of informative fun isn't it ? and if the big boys wish to throw dodgy stickers etc at the boys then so be it.
I don't think they are hurting anyone , its basically the stuff we all get up to of a weekend ,just some of us take the time to try and help inform other on how to do it. Jed and Jake are doing it in the way they know how video and the net :ok

Personally I love it.

Down to earth presentation, helpful and inspiring features. It's made me want to get out there in the rain again.
