Asda - £3 per ltr Castrol GTX 15/40 semi synth

Post by matt brighton »

Hi

Asda are selling Castrol GTX part synth 10/40 and 15/40 at £3 per ltr (usually £6 per ltr) - bottle says suitable for both petrol and diesel and meets the vw 505.00 spec

Looks to be a bargain to me...

Matt - brighton

I will double check the spec no's and E D I T if im wrong later today.

Not suitable for these old VWs though, they need 15/40 MINERAL not semi-pathetic oil.

You are right Ian - mine's a non turbo.

Thanks for the advice on not using semi synth....

Halfords do an own brand mineral diesel oil and I will pop into local motor factors to see what they have on the shelf too...

I understand that Asda do a mineral 15W40 at a very reasonable price as well.
This oil is sure to exceed VW's original spec for these engines even though it's got ASDA printed on the container. It will be a bulk oil meeting and probably exceeding requirements (read the label)
