Hightop sealant

Post by rubarb »

I'm needing to replace the sealant round the bottom of the hightop. I was thinking normal exterior sealant. Does anyone know what sealant would be best?
Thanks

Well the hightops are hels down with Sikaflex or Tigerseal so either of these will be fine.

I sikaflexed my van yesterday around the hightop, i bought white you need 2 cartridges as the first one just ran out halfway down the secound side.

great stuff nice and thick, that'll stop any leaking (if thats where the leak has come from)

i must say tho it was an afternoon job, and my poor little hands are killing today becouse its really thick and hard to squeeze out with the gun!

looks good this morning

Just jumping on this thread because this is on my "To do" list - just wondered if you applied the sealant from outside or inside? It might sound strange but to get the sealant between the bottom edge of the hightop and the roof looks to be quite awkward from outside (the rainguttering gets in the way) but when looking from the inside I can't even see where I need to be sealing! It might just be that I need to take out some of the interior or develop a new technique to do it on the outside. Any tips would be appreciated

Regards
Alan

From inside.
Stick your sealant in a bucket of hot water before you use it - flows easily then.
