Dissapearing water???!!! local vw mechanic?

Post by jonzy »

can anyone help pleeease.... I have a 1.9TD Passat engine conversion t25. All last summer, no problems at all then she started overheating, had the thermostat changed and all was fine again. then the problem came back. Had the block tested and seems ok. water pump seems to work fine under revs. the problem is that I was filling the header tank, full to the top(?) it was dumping all the water into the overflow and boiling over and bubbling like a mad thing. I read the threads here and found out that it could be the Cap on the tank, so changed that. Things got better as in I now only need to fill the tank every 3 days or so instead of every 20mins driving. the overflow tank is still full most of the time and the header half empty which then makes the temp start creeping up until the lights come on. i've tried bleeding th system as best i can but nothing seems to work. this has been going on for about 4months now and is slowly driving me maaad!!!

I live in Neath South wales, can anyone suggest a good mechanic who really knows vdubs? every one I've tried seems to just scratch their heads and just try randome stabs in the dark... and when the prob keeps coming back they just say well i dont know sorry mate its mystery!!!
