Re: has anybody fitted
there isnt any spot welds the original panel is much bigger that just the lip heres when I did the dvrs side one of mine

you cut the old off to leave a lip to attach the new too if that makes sense (you can see the lip at the top) There is loads and loads of seam sealer behind there esp against the b piller which all needs removing!

Re: has anybody fitted
Hiya, I replaced my arch below the line as I did not want to disturb the door gap. (not saying the other way is wrong or owt just did mine diffrent)
and Welded/planished,
,
Also noted you were after a step section, I made my own as I did not like the brought ones, worked out alright.
, and after planishing,
.
Good luck with yours, I am sure it will look great.

Re: has anybody fitted
hmm 64 million dollor question...
* Some would say remove it
* Others would say fill it with water (reduce the vapour mix /explosion chances)
* Some (like James) simply plugged the filler neck
Me - I removed the tank, OK it added grovelling under the van into the mix and a couple of extra hours (oh and the fact I couldn't move the van once the tank was off!)
Just occurred to me .....Ignore all the above if your running a diesel
