Accelarator pedal

Post by Devon81 »

Went out to the bus tonight, put my foot on the throttle to set the carbs (2.0l Aircooled)as i turned the key and the pedal just went to the floor and stayed there, i have not got a very good torch, so i will have a look in the morning, i did look in the engine bay and the cable is still connected to the cross bar between the solex carbs, but i could not see very well under the front, where the push bar from the peddle to the cable is joined, the cable apears to be still joined to the arm that the push rod fits too.

I have always thought the peddle was a bit stiff, since i got her last year, but not having driven a T25 before last year i thought it was just a older veichle thing, how stiff should the peddle be, the linkage under there is well covered in greese.

Hope some one can point me in the right direction.

Many thanks Ian

You can whip off the ns indicator and see it. sounds like the short link arm has come off the lever underneath, , its sort of cranked and by rights shouldnt just come off, something else will need to be worn or loose, has the link come off the pedal itself or is it still attatched

HI
I found that the throttle cable has snapped in the middle of the van, i have ordered a new one, along with the push rod that fits under the pedal, because that looked a bit poor where it connects to the arm that the cable fits to, is it a easey job to do and is there any thing that i should watch out for whilst replacing it, this probably explains why the pedal has always seemed a bit stiff.
