There's been several cars to use each badge, Matty.

"classic" 900 - before '93 - engine goes front-rear. The seats changed mounts in 1991. From 91-93, they're the same mounts as the 9000.
NG/GM 900 - 94-98. Engine's transverse, uses Cavalier floorpan.
9-3 - 98-02 - hatchback - facelift & rebadge of NG900.
9-3ss - 03 onwards - estate or saloon, not hatch - uses Vectra floorpan.

I'm presuming you're thinking of the NG900/9-3 - they'll be the easiest to find in scrappies. I don't think there's any difference in the seats throughout that era, but wouldn't swear to it.
I don't know about 9-5 seats, either - again, should be dead easy to find in scrappies.

TBH, I wouldn't be hung up on looking for specific seats. I'd find something that looks good, is comfortable, and generally works for you in the scrappy, no matter what it's from, then worry about making up adapters/fixings later. It's not like there's big space issues in a T25...

thanks adrian - that was the sort of reply i was expecting - comfort and looks first!

I just worried I'd get a set of seats, fit em then get knee knock from the steering wheel!

stupid question but do i need to unbolt / cut the OG runners from the saab as well?
never fitted different seats to anything so completely clueless - sorry

I'd use the runners that come with the seats, yes - then you just need to make up some kind of adaptor between the holes in the runners and the holes in the floor.

Find the right donor, and get some wiring in there for the heaters & electric adjustment, too... Lovely! But watch out for side windbags & pyrotechnic seatbelt tensioners...

Saab 900/9000 seats can be modded to bolt to the original runners so you can easily go back to originals. See the wiki on alternative seats.

Saab seats do make you sit higher in the van and the steering is closer to your legs
