Eberspacher fuel pump

Had the camper up on a lift today, so I thought I'd have a poke around at the eberspacher while I was at it, see if I can figure out why it doesn't work. Up til today when switched on the fan would run, but no heat would come out. I noticed that one of the wires to what I presume is an in-line pump in the fuel line was disconnected, so I reconnected it, got all excited, switched the heater on and now it does nothing at all!

So, any thoughts? Is this a fuel pump, and if so will replacing it cure my woes? It was very rusty and knackered looking, so I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't work.

It didn't occur to me to take one - but its a small metal cylindrical part, maybe an inch and a half in diameter, in the fuel line between the eber and the t-junction to the main fuel line. It's got two wires connected to it leading to the eber, and its held in place (barely, in this case) by a rubber bracket.

Was it like one of these.If yes.Then that will be the pump.The bad news is they are about £60 to £70 to replace..

That's your fuel pump - test it by disconnecting it from the heater and touching 12v across the terminals. Each touch should give you one click from the pump. Don't leave it connected to the heater or you will blow some chips inside the ecu. (don't ask how I know - repairable but a pain )
No clicks means it is fubarred. The heater will not begin to start if it is faulty.

Cheers chaps - sounds like it is the pump. I'll test it with a battery next time I'm under the van, but it seems like it's probably toasted.

It's not really that high on my priorities until next winter anyway, so I guess I'll add it to that lengthy list of little jobs that need sorting at some point.
