gearbox input selector oil seal..

Post by slowcoach »

Hi,
i have a leaky gearbox, which has always had a trail of gunk/grease coming down from where the selector goes into the side of the gearbox. not dripping onto the ground or anything, but obvious. my mechanic said id need to renew that seal to stop the weeping, although said it wasnt a huge problem. im looking for the partnumber, but vagcat (http://www.vagcat.com/epc/) is just not working for me anymore- has anyone got that part number, or any advice on the seal? its getting new oil in it soon, so wouldnt mind sorting this out.

no one at dubfreeze had one, but i think vw vancentre would sort me out..

its a 5-speed '84.

cheers!

obsolete from VW, only available from classic in germany - I have them in stock obviously, suprisingly expensive, but Elring stopped supplying them so we are stuck with this supply source. Simon at Brickwerks may also have them in stock.
part number is 020 141 733 D
