Speakers in doors

Post by tabbytiger23 »

hello

Just looking for a bit of help, i bought some new speakers for my camper for in the doors very excited!
they was advertised as 6" but have come and there 6.5" across the face, i only need a 6" hole so this is probably where the 6" came from.
Now, the speakers i have in are 6" across the face which im thinking might mean the hole behined is small.

so the question is, if i have to make the whole bigger, whats the best way?

I saw weird stuff in that place last night. Weird, strange, sick, twisted, eerie, godless, evil stuff... and I want in.

You may be pleasantly surprised when you remove the existing ones! If not, I would remove the door cards (prise them off gently, dont want to break the fixings) then you can quite happily make the hole a wee bit bigger. Good luck.

Dont forget to check clearence of metal checkstraps or you may fit your speakers and close door and put straight through cones, i have had to remove mine to get in some 6x9's in and put webbing straps instead.

get out the grinder, place a template in card on panel and dust with aerosol paint, remove and then you can see how much needs removing, then decide from there.
