Extra speakers?

Post by tabbytiger23 »

Hello

I wondered if anyone could help, im not too hot on electrics, so this might be a silly question!

i have a cd player which is also a dvd player in my camper, and it has a cable where you can plug it into a tv and play dvds. red black white plugs like at home.

I wondered if this might be compatible with a nice speaker which i could put below the back seat?

Hello,

do you want to be able to use this extra cable to power a speaker at the back, and forget the tv-output? Or are you wanting to watch telly and have the sound come out under the seat?

I guess you use the cable you describe for the equivalent to the scart input of a tv, then you'll need an amp with the speaker as well as the speaker itself so it'll need to be powered - as it would be (albiet craply) with the sound made by a tv. Car stereos should have 4 ouputs which allow you to put two speakers in the back - these then don't need to be powered as they are the right impedence for car speakers.

Do you have a make model number for the stereo to be able to find a manual?

forget the tv, just another speaker
i dont have the manual but i will have a look at the stereo this weekend see what it is.

im perhaps being a bit ambitious and should just be happy with 2 speakers in the doors.

im not too fussy just wondered.

thanks for your reply tho interesting!

If you know the model of the cd/dvd player that would be good. If it has fade and balance then there'll definitely be outputs for 4 speakers, and it really should do if it's fairly new. There's a standard colouring scheme for the wires out the back of modern stereos too (ISO plugs) - something like this for example (Random first link I found)

Good luck sorting it out
