Mine used to do that too, the reason seems to be that there is water sitting in the top of the sensor on the header tank.
I wonder if the heat from the engine was enough to dry the terminals out a bit, so the light went off when the engine warmed up?
I have dried mine out and its not been on for a couple of weeks.

Pierce, you have hit the nail on the head, i took the sensor out yesterday and the water that was sitting on top drained off, re connected & re filled tank to the brim and this morning all was normal the self check then went out

Thanks everyone for their time it appears to be as Pierce suggested .. a simple thing like a small amount of water sitting on the tank around the sensor .. who would have thought?

Where's the water coming from ? Is it working it's way up the sender threads or from a cracked tank neck ? Or is it rainwater ??
