When looking through youtube and coney farm, came across this.
Has to be the slowest most appologetic 'getting stuck' in the mud I've ever seen.

go to 2min and 30 and watch the vitara.
Ah the difference a rear locker would have made.
This is why we have diff locks.

Re: This is why we have diff locks.
We have difflocks because our Syncros have even less axle articulation than that Vitara and somebody in VW obviously (and wisely) decided that it would be too embarassing to see the Syncro getting stuck on even the mildest of ondulating tracks and that something had to be done about it.
And don't forget ...in most markets the difflocks were optional (and expensive options at that)

But what amazes me in a lot of these types of vids, is nobody even bothers to let a load of air out of the tyres.. makes a difference.. extra artificial articulation and added traction.... simples....

20 minutes stuck on a tree root in a Vitara that weighs nothing! (IFS, live rear axle btw...)
Even the blokes pushing it made a lame ar$ed job of helping

ah, glorious mud. I hate those little vitaras being able to go most anywhere. They'll never be able to haul camping equipment like our syncros or provide a good bed though. Here's one to give us syncro owners a smug feeling. syncro vs vitara http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ON7FlImvmM
