Without a full radiator and hoses transplant, you're limited.

hi thanks for some of the replies...
like the 911 idea but was thinking something along the lines of 8v or 16v golf gti engine... or newer 20v turbo gti engine...
the lads at my local garage are mulling over if they want to take it on... my original message was to see if anyone out ther knew of any garages etc out there that fit different engines to t25's... sure must be someone who does this ???
cheers mrburns

We can help with the 20v as just about to fit a 20vT into the misses van. Engine and wiring looms fairly easy to find and fit with adapters. Give us a ring for more details if required.

If you set on a watercooled engine I would get a newer van! Adapting an aircold to water cooled takes some work!

As ^^^^ says, the engine fitting bit is easy its the water that takes time amongst other things, plus dont forget to remove the dash, luvly job there, and fit a nice water heater then all the ancillaries

Spend the £££££££ on getting your engine built by these guys http://www.johnmaherracing.co.uk/
They would build you a reliable torquey motor. Not cheap, but probably not much different to what you'll end up paying converting to watercooled.
Cheap option would be to look out for an old 4 cylinder porche lump (912/914) still wouldn't be a direct swap, and it will be older tech than you already have

Forget going 2.4, been there, done that. Now back with 2.0 and I'd stick with that but with some nice Dell Orto's.
Otherwise flog your van and get a watercooled
