Rock and roll beds

I need to replace the bed/seat in the van. It's just two bits of mdf backed foam and bolts so neither practical or safe. My lpg tank sits in front of the bulkhead in almost exactly the same ways as Covkids in the Wiki. The question is does anyone know if the bluebird bed will work with this? This from eBay will fit. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT but although a good price it may not be as solid as the bluebird. Anyone know if the volksware's bed would fit with the tank? Been scratching my head with this so any info much appreciated.

I saw the volkswares bed at busfreese and I didn't like it at all.

If I was you I would ring Bluebird and ask how much room their usally is under the bed once fitted. That is if no kind soul measures theirs for you. Mine will be fitted early march

E D I T: Looking at covkids pics and the bluebird bed in my spare room i would say the tank will fit nicely under the bluebird bed and here's a pic of the old bluebird design bed which is the same size as the new style but without the metal seat and back bases. As you can see your tank will fit

To be honest my rock and roll bed as presumably fitted by Leisuredrive all those years ago might have been the bees knees then but when I acquired the van three years ago it was a crock of poo with jammed sliders etc! So I chucked the metalwork and simply hinged the back rest part (of three pieces) from the floor at a point which would provide the correct back rest angle and give about 6" overhang when the three panels are flat down for a bed. Providing of course you don't stand on the very edge when reaching into the high top it works properly in true KISS fashion. It also maximises head room when sitting up in bed. I read many threads about R & R's and can't really see the need for these complex linkages and box height wasting boxes. Anyone else just use hinges?

Leisuredrive beds were never really the bees knees. You put the bed down to access the engine bay because of the support slider bars and the whole thing is secured with self tappers.

Ordered the Bluebird, it's the only one that looks like it could withstand the amount of punishment my two boys will give it. Thanks for the info, let you know how it goes. Need to get the buddy seat out first, then new ply floor, then insulate,then vinyl floor down, then repair the wardrobe, then put the seat in.

I'll tell you, that farmer who only had to get some grain, a chicken and a fox over the river had it easy. He should try doing up a van.
