Breakdown Recovery £38.00
Hi all
Just to let ye know. This is the cheapest Breakdown Recovery I could find , which covers the driver and spouse for any vehicle ( within reason ) they drive.So its good for all us Slow-rolling t25 owners. I dont usually do commercials but this is a lot cheaper than AA / RAC
See details at
http://www.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Also vehicle only cover ( any age ) which gives you 30 days European cover for £59.00 from this company here.
http://www.quotelinedirect.co.uk/breakdown/?INRN" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Copy and paste either link

Here we have the crucial part in the small print ..
and
This means the Glass's guide value of a 20 year old vehicle which they won't have listed as a camper but as a van. If you look in the Wiki you'll find correspondence I had with ADAC a couple of years ago regarding their policy on this.
Shame

We will not pay for any of the following:
* Your vehicle to be sent home if the costs of repatriation will exceed its UK market value.
and
* The UK market value of the vehicle will be obtained from the Glass's Guide or a recognised equivalent.

There's a reason why you see so many vans on the back of RAC and AA Vans. The AA have been brilliant with us and is well worth the extra. Plus they seem to like having a go with a machine that's not run by a computer.

Quote AA: vehicle recovery to the UK if it can't be repaired abroad, up to the current market value of the vehicle.

They are all the same, I go with Flux Rescue because they recovered us before so I know that works PLUS we have an agreed value of £7,000 so even if they did run a value v cost equation on it they can't easily turn round and say it's worth £2.50.

Re: Breakdown Recovery £38.00
Anybody got any thoughts on full-year Euro recovery? The usual 20yr max rule is biting us.
A friend put us on to these guys - http://www.firstcallmotorbreakdown.co.uk/european.cfm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - but whilst they have no age rule, they exclude "any vehicles with living accommodation" - don't think we can work around that one easily...

Yes but they will honour an agreed insurance value. Always phone for european cover and they will give a quote for older vehicles.

Where's that from Ian? Autoaid or Quoteline?
As for Autoaid ... have just signed up for another year. Have had the van recovered once in the past, no issues there. Only thing most people I speak to don't like is that they are a breakdown insurance "pay and reclaim" company NOT a breakdown company, so you need to have some way of covering the cost of the recovery before making a claim for your money back.
