Alternator Belt

Post by Sugar Spun Sisters »

What is the correct size of the Alternator belt on a 1.9DG?
The minefield of belt sizes
I have a Bosch 45Amp alternator.
The current belt is a Gates Automaster 6223. This doesn't correspond with Just Kampers belts of which there are several. Is the 1075 the correct one? Or shall I just source another Gates?

I searched for gates belts 6223 and only thing I could find is this

http://www.goodsourcing.com/main/exec/m ... 3ee01u3tz5

It suggests that your belt is a 10x1075

Are you sure there are no other markings on it? Can you not take it off and measure it?

Brickwerks sell belts.

Thanks, that's really helpful. I think they are the only markings...I dare not try taking it off I probably wouldn't be able to put it back on
The 6223 translation to 10 x 1075 does tally up with Just Kampers belt size...I know it does depend on the alternator amp size, I think there are 2 sizes for my van. It's all a learning experience of course! Ashleigh

I wouldn't take the JK site as gospel.

I would take the belt off and take it to your local motor factors so you can compare it to the new belt.

I would suggest that part of your learning experience be to follow Cruz's earlier link to Brickwerks for the belt, and not get one from JK
What a long strange trip it's been

I've been in your shoes and phoned Brickwerks and without even smirking at my ramblings they sent me the right one.
