hazard warning lights on perminently ?

hi all ,
every time i connect my battery my warning hazard lights come on and wont go off even without the keys in the ignition !! ,well they dogo off after about 10 mins .i have tried pulling all the fuses in the fuse box and still stay on .it seams to have started after i removed and cleaned glow plug elecs because the yellow led on the dash was staying on a bit too long ,i solved that but now seam to have this new prob ,
can anyone please give me any advice on where i should start ,

I'd first check to make sure the hazard switch hasn't been flicked on by accident. Next I'd check the connections on the back of the switch to check for a short. Finally I'd pull the flasher relay and see if plugging it back in resets it.

If you've got a alarm fitted that could also be the cause of the hazards flashing?

thanks for the reply ,ive checked the switch and that is in off position and ive taken switch out and all looks ok at the back too ,i guess by short you mean two wires touching ???
ive just gone an checked and there is a faint siren alarm noise coming from the front grill ,weve had the van 2 years and didnt even know i had an alarm i feel a bit of a idiot ,
so i supose i need to try and disconect it ,strange how its started to go off now ive had the battery disconected a few times lately ,at least i know what it is tho,dont supose you would no where to start as far as dissconecting the alarm ?

Taking out an alarm can be a nightmare or a doddle depending on the type of alarm and how it was fitted. If it's a simple shock sensor one that has just been spliced into a power source & the flashers it could just be a matter of tracing any wires that come off it and disconnecting them. If it's more complicated with an immobiliser and door sensors etc you could try finding a name & part number on it and goggling for an installation manual.

It might be "going off" if your battery is a bit on the low side and its got a voltage drop trigger circuit. The 10 second delay might be the time it takes to re-arm after going off. Without knowing the type of alarm it's all a bit of a guess really.

thanks for your reply ,like i say i didnt even know i had an alarm till this started happening .... i dont have a key fob or anything so ive no idea how you supose to turn it on or off so will have to investigate at weekend

I would guess that if you've been starting/using the van for two years, the lack of any kind of immobiliser would suggest to me that this is probably a pretty cheap and basic alarm. Try and trace the wires from the siren box and find what goes where - better alarms tend to have non-coloured wires to make ripping them out harder. Don't cut anything until you know where it goes and what it does.

I fitted a really cheap 'Sparkrite' alarm to my first car and that was literally just power, earth and triggers wired to door pins. Took no time to put in and would have been even less to take out!

hi all ,
just connected battery and alarm louder than ever now ,not sure why this is ,anyway seen some taped up bunch of wires going to a little two way switch under dash traced them and there was one red wire connected to back of fuse box ,pulled it out and hay presto no ALARM !!!,im guessing just by leaving this un connected its problem solved ,happy days thanks to everyone for thier input ,
