Hi Guys
Had my van running this morning as normal, was running wuite nicely for about 5mins and then just cut out. Now won't start. When I put a meter on the battery it shows 18.5v and then turn the ignition on and it drops to 6. have tried a bulb accross the negative on the battery looking for a short by removing fuses but no luck. Are there any suggestions for what else I can try.
Thanks
Andy

Re: DEAD VAN
Is the engine turning over or dead on key?
Do you have fuel in the tank?
fuel filter need changing?
fuel getting to carb?
getting a spark?

Re: DEAD VAN
hI
Van was running quite happily, then just stopped. Now will not turn over, as soon as you turn the ignition on it drops from 18v to 6v.
It will not turn over and it doesn't even click.
I have disconnected the live feed to the coil and that makes no difference as soon as you turn the key the voltage drops
no power at all as it seems to be draining away

Re: DEAD VAN
18v is far to high for a 12v battery - there is something seriously wrong if you are getting that sort of voltage, you will fry a lot of your electrics.

Re: DEAD VAN
Now,
I have to hold my hands up here and make a confession..........
I've been suffering from dead battery syndrome.
The vans battery was flat so it wouldn't start
the battery in my circuit tester was almost flat and sent the readings haywire.
The van is now running or at least will be again once the battery is charged.
SORRY
