Where do I put this???

Post by nevill3 »

I have owned my camper a year now and I have an item that came with the van, but I have no idea where to put it to be able to use it!!
I have taken some photos please have a look and any suggestions as where to put it would be welcome!!

It looks like it is a table of some kind but we have not found anywhere to attach it too. The only place I could think of was into the top of the headrest poles (They have similar white plastic blocks on them, the headrests are on tubes that go into the top of the back of the seats.)

Many thanks

I doubt very much its a step.It wouldn't hold a persons weight. It does look like a home brew table of sorts...

Many thanks for all the suggestions, I guess it isn't an original VW fitment then!!!!!

The buddy seat has a lift up flap thing that converts the seat into a bench so four can sit comfortably at the table.

It definitely isn't a step, Rob was right in saying it would just snap.

Our pop top doesn't have a bed in it so that rules that out too.....

The mystery continues.....This will have to go on the back burner for now ( I need to get some quotes for insurance sorted) I am sure someone one day will say we like your thingymajig..I wish we had one and the mystery will be solved...untill then.....

Maybe that's the answer!! It goes over the back burner to keep things warm while you cook the rest of the grub
OK I'll keep thinking

I do like working things like this out, have you tried it in the head restraint holes to see if it fits? Or, depending on the size, does it fit in the gap between the front seats, perhaps to extent it for a dog bed or something.

Could it be a foot rest for the passenger? The side with no legs could lean against the front. Or it could be a foot stall if the seats swival. Keep us posted if you find out, please.

I'm with you Cazz on this one. I need to find out too.
Perhaps your foot rest idea isn't far away but perhaps for the back seats?
Someone with short legs would welcome this to save their feet from dangling in the air.
So maybe it's not the answer but it could be used as such until we find out its true purpose.

A rear footstall, good thinking, just been looking at the garage pictures of the camper in question and I wonder if the legless edge would sit over the lip of the lower cupboard or if it somehow fixes to the bed base, not sure what would stop it sliding forward though.

Another thought, would it fit on the dash or steering wheel to make a cab table?
Is that table leg conponents on the panel under the seat, very clever if so.

To stop the kids rolling out of the upstairs bed perhaps?

That's what I am beginning to think it is,

Yes they are the table leg components, the leg swivels out and you insert a second pole and then the table top.
Because the top swivels as well as the base you can position the table almost anywhere you like either longways, sideways, tight up to the rock and roll seat or in the middle of course for a regular dining table. It is the best table I have seen in an old camper, we love it

that's what I would say it is - take a head rest out and put this in it's place then put a telly on it!
It is by will alone that I set my 'van' in motion!
