Have you taken out the glow plug and cleaned the gauze filter?

Sounds like a good old fashioned service might not be a bad idea. See the wiki....

Hi Louey.

Running flat out on maximum I can only put my hand in front of mine for a few seconds because it's so hot. However it takes a while to get up to full temperature, so if yours is only running for a few minutes it may not have time to get there. However this may make it unlikely that it's overheating.
