help, van wont start after disconnecting idle stab module

Post by elmo makaroy »

ive tried unplugging my idle stab unit to see if the van would run better without it plugged in and it wouldnt start at all, so i plugged it back in and now it wont start, worked fine before and ive got work in an hour,

engine is turning over fine, i did let the van worm up before i unplugged it so im thinking maybe i just need to give it time for the choke flap to close again,

any help would be great if its not working after i leave it half hour im gunna try some easy start, van isnt firing at all wich is really odd since it usually starts first time

help!

Have you disturbed any of the leads on the coil (thin green one and thin black one I think), or the king lead from coil to dissy cap?

oh - and if its petrol non-ignition, you need foot flat to floor to start a warm engine (according to the manual)

Just a thought, it was the idle control unit (black box with two black cables that you then join together) that you unplugged wasn't it....and not the ingnition control thingy mounted on the side of the engine bay??

right just tried an after foot flat to the floor it started, so problem solved, but i am wondering if you think i should have a go at disconecting and connecting the two leads from it together again and put the fact that it didnt start when i tried was because it was warm?,

am i better off having it disconected?

to be honest, I am no expert, but glad that the foot to floor helped!

if you want, when you get to work, disconnect your idle stabilisation unit, connect the wires and do your work. Then drive it home. See if it is any different as it should start and run ok if the box isn't doing its job I guess.

if its pooh running, reconnect.

Why exactly are you wanting to disconnect anyway...is it running badly?
