Westy pop top seals. which ones?

Post by samk »

Hi All,

I need some seals for a westy pop top. I know they're available from a number of sources at varying prices. Can anyone recommend some based on experience? I need the luggage rack seal and the one between the back and front sections only.

thanks !

I bought a set of seals from JK a couple of years ago.
The luggage rack seals fitted fine, as did the long seal around the back and sides of the roof.
The broad seal that goes along the front edge of the pop top would not fit; too wide and too thick. I've kept the old one for the time being.

I've noticed the roof fabric at the back getting quite damp this winter, after the heavy rain and snow. It is possible that the new seal does not fit quite as tightly to the metal roof as the original, but I cannot be certain.

Would be interested to know if you find a good source for the front edge seal.

thanks for th ewarning. will let you know how I get on. Go Westy and Gunzl get good mentions from time to time but are the upper end of the price scale. Was wondering if any slightly cheaper ones are satisfactory.

I've just found these, Campershop have different roof seals listed and assorted shaped ones at the bottom of the page. Not sure if they are of any help.

thanks for the extra tip offs.

the thing about the status vw seal pack is that it comes with the rear seal that i dont need. Suppose i could order anyway and it may perish when i try and move it!
