Paint Hi top

Post by Sir Brixalot »

My hi top has cracks covered by painted masking tape! Going to fibreglass cracks then paint. Does anyone have recommendation for paint type. All suggestions appreciated. Rustoleum? or is that only for metal

You can use any paint on fibreglass... as long as you use plastic primer first.
rustoleum needs no primer I think

hi,

I looked into this for my cracked and chalky fibreglass hardtop and the best answer I got was a Gelcoat. Have a look under 'boating, fibreglass' in google. Lots of tips out there on how to do it, but it is a summer job unless you have cover to do it.

As long as you key the fibreglass first(sanding) to give the paint something to grip , then rustoleum is the way to go.

I stand corrected! Just looked online and Rust-Oleum will work on fiberglass so i guess it can flex a little.. oh and it's cheaper if you're doing more than just the top

steel, ally, wood, glass fibre. Rustoleum works on them all and yes flexible.
