oil pick up pipe and strainer

Post by lukewoolfenden »

Hi again guys and gals,

Well I've got my engine in bits, it looks ok but I have a few challenges ahead of me. But of course I have one bit that will not come off. In the very bottom of the engine block is the oil pick up pipe/suction pipe and strainer. The haynes manual says it is held on with one bolt, which I have removed, and then the pipe should just slide out. It is loose and will rotate a bit and wobble but no matter how much force I put on it the damn thing will not come out. Any ideas? I would like to remove it so I can clean the block properly and put a new rubber seal on it before putting it back in.

Any advice as always apreciated

Luke

It's a water-cooled 1984 1.9 df, petrol.

The diesel has two bolts I am sure, guess the petrol would be similar.
