Aviemore, Scotland?

Post by ThorAlex »

Hi!

We are currently planning a study trip with my class at school, one (my favorite) option is Aviemore in Scotland. Trip will be late summer/ early fall 2011.

So, anyone from the area got some info, tips, things to see or whatever? Is it possible to rent a car to go green-laning at a sensible price (if i get a little group together, no green-laning in Norway) or anyone feel like taking some Norwegians out for a trip? Any t3 happenings in the area around that time? We'll be bushy with school stuff during the day but will have time to explore in the afternoon/evening, and maybe stay a few days more, would be cool to hook up with some syncro/t3 folks wile down there.

Any input or suggestions are welcome

Cheers
Thor

Hi ThorAlex.....MacWilliam from T3Zone. I live one hour drive north of Aviemore. Let us know when you get there. Schools up here starts again mid august so we should be home. Dont know if there are any afficionados of T3's up there. In this part of the world, T3's are just old vehicules with great potential as chicken sheds! Especially the double sliding doors

I though up that part of the country T3's were used as "Haggis Breeding Sheds" and not suitable for chickens

I'm a student taking a bachelors degree (3 years, university college) in wildlife management so we'll be studying (as put in the info we go) The famous grouse, and anything else in that has to do with wildlife and management of it. As for legal to drive in the UK I'm 23 and i have my Norwegian drivers license witch, as far as i know, there is no reason why it should not be valable down there. Only thing woud be used to driving on the wrong side of the road, but you folks seem to do fine so that should be ok

T3Zone, i'm a member there too. Pity about the chicken sheds School starts in mid august here too, we probably won't be down there much later than that but as i said nothing is set yet.

Would be nice to stop buy vanfest if i can, seems like a really nice event!

You'll be able to hire a car without any problems. My niece did manage to hire a vehicle last summer in Elgin with a French licence and spent a few days in Skye.

You'll find nice back roads but 4x4 is going to be problematic as the area is a nature reserve. Ptarmigans, grouse, capercaillie, haggi......

Vanfest.......8 hours drive one way from Aviemore!
