16" cv joint - bolt spline drive size

Post by Yozza »

I'm just taking the rear suspension and drive apart and got stuck at the first hurdle! My spline tool was too small (even though it fits the front inner cvs and the ones on my 2wd). Do the 16" rears have bigger bolts and as a result require a bigger spline drive tool? If so does anyone know the specific size so I can track one down.

Yeh they are bigger than 14" ones. I noticed this while working on Lloydys van.

I needed an 8mm 12 point on the rear inner cv bolts, well those that didnt need a cold chisel and a 2lb lump hammer...

Thanks fellas, now I know what to be looking for.

Aidan, thanks for the link, not seen those before. My philosophy is, if it aint budgin threaten it with the angle grinder, however, I may stick those bolt grips on the birthday list (I must be going soft in my old age )
