Cruz - I have same problem, discovered today, Cant do anything with my alternator until Ive renewed the wire from the alt plug to the battery, as it looks green and cruddy!

Ninja - where did you source that wire/loom from?

All - Any idea what the VW part no is for the wiring from 9and including) the alternator plug to the battery, or at leastthe next junction along, if there is one...?

How will I know if I have a standard alternator, or a bigger ampage one..?

Thanks

.4v doesn't seem much of a drop though.

Should I be getting more than 13.9 at the alternator?

I have an auto electrician around the corner so I may take it for him to have a look. He replaced my whining alternator bearing a few years ago

I get 14.2 at the starter battery on tick over (45A alt with new brush pack).. My alternator fella says it's performing as it should.

I'm going to get off my backside and get it checked over by the nice auto leccy around the corner
