Re: Not starting/turning over

Post by Squinty »

Before xmas I took my recently serviced van on an 80 mile trip with no problems. In the moring I had to move it and it wouldn't start. When turning the key, I could hear a clunk down the rear drivers side of the van (the solenoid?). Later attempts to start the van didn't even produce this noise. I tried rocking the van incase the starter had frozen/got jammed but no joy. The following day I bought a new battery and it fired up fine. Got home and then didnt use the van for over a week. Tried to start it and nothing. I have checked the battery and it is fully charged. My first thought was that something was drawing power when not being used but a multimeter has proved this not to be the case. Everything electrical works perfectly - do I just have a faulty starter motor? Any help would be greatly appreciated. note - I do have a leisure battery fitted but always have done so I would be surprised if this was the root of my problem. Thanks in advance
