no main beam
just fitted a new stereo and made sure the heater cables went above the radio so it would push all the way in,came home last night and went to 'flash' someone out of a side road and the main beams did not light up and the dipped lights went out just leaving sidelights on.had a quick look at the fuses and pulled the cover off the instruments to make sure I had not pulled any wires out of light switch, all ok,have I pulled something out behind the dashboard??,will pull radio out at weekend when it is in the daylight, thanks

Re: no main beam
Hello,
I'd check your earths at the crowns, and also possibly the main ignition at from the steering column, and then at the X-relay connections behind the fuse box. Dipped lights going out may suggest it thinks you don't have the ignition in... not so for flashing main beam, but without further info and diagnostics, I'd use a multimeter and check you definitely have power where you expect when you switch the ignition on....
How did you wire your stereo in by the way? This might have something to do with it too.
Good luck
Ewen

Re: no main beam
just used the live wire that was used with the old stereo, will wire it up from the leisure battery instead, there is just not a lot of room behind the dash for the stereo to fit all the way in,thanks for the reply
