Brake fluid on cab mat

Post by Ospreylian »

Hi,
I've just taken my 1981 1.9l petrol Westphalia out & found brake fluid on the steering boot rubber & on the cab mat under both the clutch & the brake pedal. On closer inspection its also running along the underneath of the pedal itself.

Any idea on what the problem may be??

Many thanks

Ceri

On a good day
Overfilled resevoir/cap missing
On not so good a day
Brake light switch on back of M/Cyl leaking
On a normal day
seals shot/pipe corroded and leaking
And why not start a new topic entitled 'newby says hi' and tell us a bit about yourself

What Ian Said. Mine went before Chrismas, about £50 for a new one from Brickwerks plus some fun & games to fit, refil & bleed.

Or take the easy option like I did and take it to your local trusted mechanics - a couple of hours labour and all will be well
What a long strange trip it's been

Hello all,

Thank you all for your replies. I'll be taking her to a local mech to have a look at. As you all spotted I'm a very newbie to forums and the VW scene. I bought Blodwen back in the Summer, she's a 1981 1.9l petrol Westfalia Joker poptop camper in Aswan Brown. She has the original Van Dyke upholstered seats in the front, original carpets & most of the interior is clean, but I do have several holes where speakers have been installed & removed. Bodywork appears to be OK at present. She is the first bus I've owned after more than 30yrs of desire. Since owning her I've done about 2000 miles, done a fortnight in Cornwall, got her stuck in the mud at Volksfest Wales in Margam, and basically driven her around the Gower smiling to myself the whole journey. Civil servant, married, 3 kids, non smoker, GSOH.
Again many thanks to you all & I look forward to chatting in the future.

Cheers

Ceri

80-90dating eh? MMMM golden oldies!

Just trying to think of a slogan,

As long as its Grey, its OK?
Find your last date before you see the gates?
The end is near, find love here?
Your food comes in tubes, now you've lost all your pubes?

I'm sorry ill leave now................
When the last ounce of truth has fled, nought is left but the sum of lies.............
