Track Control Arm- Eccentric Washer

Post by Chilla »

My N/S TCA is I think, overly tight. By this I mean if you attempt to move it upwards or downwards by hand it takes a lot of pressure to move it. Whereas the O/S moves freely (with light resistance) by hand.

My question is, is the eccentric washer a wearing piece? I notice they are available in 4,5 & 5.5mm. However, you would have thought if this washer was worn the TCA would become looser?

Ive carefully marked the TCA and taken apart, inspected greased and reassembled. But still it remains tight.

Any ideas or insights appreciated!

More than likely the bushes are failing.

Thanks Simon, needed some confirmation for my fears- As the arm is a horse shoe shape its probably pulling back on itself when the nut is tightened.

Right ! lets have a look down the back of the settee

The washers are clamped to the housing by the big bolt and don't move so shouldn't wear. Use plenty of underseal though as they're exposed and will rust. When tightening the nut, maintain the correct rotational position of the assembly by holding the bolt head steady.
