Evening and Happy New Year to you all.
As the title says eber problems, i had this serviced in 2007 by a retired engineer and it was working perfectly from then till i laid the van up in oct 08, van stored indoors for 2 yrs eber not started/tested during this time. upon getting it out of storage i replaced starter battery and leisure battery so these are both new.
It's a D2L off an 82 westy with the turn dial thermostat (so no lcd fault code)
All it's basically doing is clicking (ecu) starts (fan whiring) then cuts out after 1 to 2 seconds.
I have now removed it from the van and have changed the thermo switches with new ones
The 100°C goes near the glow plug and the 250°C at the far end of the heat exchange.
It made no difference.
I have tested the glow plug with jump leads connected to the battrey, which gets red hot, so i reckon this works.
I have continuity on all wires, i have even replaced some spade conectors
Getting 12.65 volts at terminals 3 and 4 (of ecu) when switched off and 11.45 volts when eber is on, the problem is it only stays on for 1 to 2 seconds then cuts out, the glow plug does get warm in this time but not red hot as it dont have the time,
if i turn the thermostat down the fan will kick back in and stay kicked in till you try to tutn it up and then it will start and then cut out after 1 to 2 seconds again.
If i disconnect the thermo switch wires (the one above the glow plug) it will stay turning the fan but obviously there is no heat, if you connect the wire back up it again trys for 1 to 2 seconds then stops again.
at no point does the fuel pump click. although i have tried it on the battery pulsing it over 12volts and it does pump fuel this way..
Im pretty stumped now, so any help ans advise will be greatly appreciated.
cheers Baz
