Tacho Redline - DG

Post by StuM »

Hi All,

Does anyone know what the redline would be on a 1.9DG engine if fitted with a tacho?

Thanks,
Stu

Hi
Ive got mine set around 4500. I told the wife never let it go over the red line(when she drives) but i think its 5200 on a DG but as im sure someone will come along soon.

5400 rpm is where the rev limiting rotor arm will limit - it's fine to rev over 4000 if necessary, eg coming on to M62 westbound at J24 I take my wbx upto 5000 in order to achieve traffic speed and get up the hill, but cruise at 3300; 3500 is where your natural rev limiter, the ears, come into play, by 3800 they are saying that's enough

When the rotor limiter kicks in does it hold the revs at maximum, or does it feel like you're losing power/engine cutting out?
My first drive in our T25, coming back from Leeds, on a hill i dropped a gear and as I tried to pick up speed the engine faultered. like it was cutting out, and didnt respond properly until I had reduced speed a bit.
I "assumed" this was the limiter, but never got around to asking.
Cheers
