Now that fella is the great god of solex.

My mate watched him set up some twin dells by ear, rolling road man said it was the closest by ear set up he'd ever had.
I watched him sort my pierburg out...

top bloke

right thats all great apart from the fact that gassure is miles away from me so i cannot get down there, plus the van will not run well enough to drive there to have it set up,

there must be someone closer to me (essex) who can do this job for me?.

so the cb performance solex carbs are no good either? is there any1 on here or does any1 know of any1 who i can just take my carbs off and mail them over to be refurbed?

plus i have spoken to a couple of guys who run karrman konection (a vw specialist) and they say they always use webbers and think they are great, plus the guy who is working on my van at vw down under says webers are great,

it seems every1 i meet in person recomends webber carbs but they are hated on this forum,

karmann connection and vw down under are not carburettion specialists.

try speaking to a specialist not a general parts purveyor or bay dealer.

anyway i have said my piece, its up to you if you want to listen to people with real experience or to someone who wants to sell you something

Hello, I dont know the tune , but the words are

Solex, Solex, get solex every time

Simple, sweet, you get all the bits from the States.

Overhaul kit, and then get it set up right.

If your lost, I can send you how to set your carb.

Cordialement,

When we got our van it had the single webber. I soon learnt that although it was easy to set up, fit nice and tidy under the lid, started first time and got us from A to B (very slowly)that that was about it, even after I rebuilt the engine.

I stuck on a pair of Dellorto 40's after a lot of reading and listening to peoples experiences. It was the best thing I ever did for the van - increased power to 80bhp after going on a rolling road, which is 10 more than factory and it sounds fantastic when you put your foot down. Webbers would probably be OK but I did read a lot of negative feedback on forums and none for Dells.
