Accelerator pedal fail
Hello all. I was warming up the 1990 Caravelle today and the right angled rod below the throttle pedal pulled out of the flat metal plate cable retainer hole (if that make sense?). With a bit of fiddling around with a screwdriver, I managed to get the right angled rod back into the hole. A bit worried it will pull out again. Was there some sort of circlip or something there originally to prevent pull out? There is a bit of lump on the end, but not much.. Thanks - Paul

Re: Accelerator pedal fail
I was sitting in a traffic queue ages ago and being a bit bored I had my foot under the accelerator and lifted it with my foot to see if the idle would get slower. All that happened was the rod disconnected. Doh! I quickly poked it back in place before the lights changed and it has stayed connected ever since. I haven't had a proper look at it since but I guess it only comes apart if you pull it.

Re: Accelerator pedal fail
this will only happens if you have worn throttle parts on your van , it happens because the metal part under the van resembling a boomarang has wear, originally the hole was round but with many years of wear and tear and lack of grease the hole will now be oval , you can either replace this with a new part or re weld the hole so it is now round not oval , you will be also probably not getting full throttle opening when you floor the pedal get someone to floor the throttle when you check round the back of van to see if its opening fully , the van will now seem faster with a higher top speed as you are now opening the throttle not just taking up the slack in the mechanism
