Cold & Clutch

Post by Ian and Lins »

Bugger. Finally got round to digging the van out and it STARTS! Depress clutch and it has a new very light action. Fluid gone from res so must have a leak some where. Bloody cold, still stuck on a car park, getting dark and I think I can hear wolves
Are we going on anything else?

Try a search for 'slave cylinder' in the technical forum, loads of peeps have done these before. Some of us a few times over the years on various vans.

If this hasn't been off before for a few years then there may be issues with the flexy pipe to the slave cylinder. All clutch components are here ...

Ah you didn't say that in your first post.. so try the slave
You'll need a friend to help check this.
get someone to depress the pedal
whilst you look at the slave cylinder actuating arm
What does it do when depressed?
move some ? move none?

is there any fluid coming out of it?

Stick it in first gear and start the engine..............you're off. Get the revs right and you can change gear too without the clutch. Drive home and sort it out there.
1.9D (AEF) pop-top. Aaaaahhhhh........that's better.
