took mine off the other day to looksee behind it,should it have mastic/sealant around the edge of it?,mine did not,I have some gutter sealant from screwfix that seems to stay tacky,would that be ok to use?,the vent is fairly large,autosleeper trident

Mine is an Autohomes and has sealant behind the vents if that helps.

Our A'sleeper vent didn't have any sealant round it either. Bloody silly idea imho, so I sealed round it with some windscreen sealant that I already had from Frost.

Hi,
Before I changed the vent on my van (see Autosleeper Big Vent thread) I used to use whatever sealant I had to hand when putting the vent back on. Providing it doesn't stay too tacky it should be fine.

Non-settnig mastic strips so you can get the vent off again if you need to

Kentishvanman and I did the same thing. It was good for your fridge vent to use if it is sealed. This really works!
