time to join the weber brigade?

Post by edoh »

the pierburg 2e that runs the van - just seems to be making more and more aggravation -

a good clean up - new choke pull down unit - new vacuum pipes and checking for leakes -
has resulted in -

van never being able to start on choke - but running ok once warmed up -
now turned into -
van - on start - revving really hight - and no way of bringing the revs down -
acc cable doesnt feel stuck -
BUT -
this spring in the middle of the carb -
doesnt seem to operate anything ???
Image

just swings around loosely ?
has something come off/fallen off/need to be reattached? cause of the stuck high revs?

just sits there - unattached -
Image

Image

doe it need reattaching? to what? - these bits underneath?
Image

any help/advice or suggestion - be ruddy useful -

cheers -

yes this is the cause of your high idle

That looks like the throttle return spring.
disconnect the Acc cable
take off the carb
does the throttle (butterfly valve) return to the stop and close the throat of the carb?

you can see it here, assembly No 35

isn`t that the lever that the choke opperates.

did you make sure that when you fitted the bi-metalic bit of the choke it was lined up and attached to the little lever in the choke housing
