Cv Joints

Post by robobobo »

Hi Guys,
been a while since iv'e been on as my syncro been off the road and no time to fix it. This downpour of snow made me realise i need to get it ship shape fast.

My last problem was the droplink that had snapped, i only realised this when a knocking started when turning so it had been snapped for some time and been driven snapped. On the same trip this knocking turned more serious and was violently pulling the steering to one side, i removed the prop at the side of the road as a precaution and this relieved the problem and limped me home at low speed although getting gradually worse.

Looking at other posts the most similar symptons are the cv joints which i'd like to get changed asap and hope that nothing else is wrong!! Unfortunately i'm working 11 hour days and it's freezing outside so my usual desire to fix everything myself has become a need to find someone local who knows what they are doing with a syncro and that i can trust to do a good job that's not going to come back and bite me.

Im in London now so don't know anyone up here, any suggestions ? The van is parked at my work right next to the olympic stadium in Bow east London. Thought it worth a shot before i take it to a 4\4 garage that's prob never dealt with a syncro before.

Any suggestions, much appreciated !

Deffo want it in that snow asap, plus i want to drive back up north

i`m too far from you but drive shafts are a simple enough job so most garages should be able to tackle it. just warn them not to damage the difflock actuators.

dead easy, you should be able to do the rears in a day, even as a novice, Brickwerks for parts
you need a copy of Bentley manual if you are going to run a syncro either the paper one, expensive, or a pdf on disc available from various usal sources ( )

If you dont want to do it yourself, give this garage a call.

Ask for "Len", he's been working on T25 for a long time and knows them well. I wouldnt trust any other garage around this area imho. He's always got different T25's in and I take my 2wd and my Syncro to him for jobs I dont fancy doing myself. Seems to know T25's very well....He can get the parts for you and he also doesnt mind at all if you bring parts to him to be fitted.

Good luck, also wish I got around to finishing my Syncro earlier with all this snow around....

Many thanks again, great help as always!
Spoke to Len already and gonna limp it round there next week. He knew what he was on about which is certainly a good start! Cheers dave

Would have been nice to do it but I'm resisting the urge so I can get it on the road and get to edale for Xmas.
Can't wait to get it in the peaks again, doing what it's made for.
Thanks again

Can't for the life of me find any Syncro front cv kits on brickwerks, am I missing something ? Rears are there as are front boots! Also no rear springs for 14" . what's the next port of call for joints if so and any brands to avoid?
Also need new bushes on my refurbed drop links, has anyone used the front end bushes kit. Does it contain the stainless sleeves for the drop link or am I best buying the individual parts.

Cheers

Last bit of the order still to come, I think everything else has come in.
We do normally have them, and they are overdue, spoke with supplier and they are en route but held up in the snow now I presume.
These have been on order for a good couple of months now at least, everything else came reasonably quickly so I presume they have been made and we've been waiting for them finishing off.
as soon as they land they will be on the webshop.

You've probably thought about this but why not leave on your site what is available... but out of stock? That way we can keep an eye on when it is back in stock as opposed to assuming you can't supply it and start looking elswhere? Which is what I did and wish I hadn't!.... I only want to do the job once and like to plan ahead.
