Caravan and camping club

Anybody got membership of the caravan and camping club? Is it OK? Value for money etc. Any special offers when joining? Whats the sites like? Do they generally welcome our better than average vans? Couldn't see any mention on here anywhere. If I've missed a link a nudge in the right direction would be great.

Good value for money I reckon, although we tend to use the small "certificated sites" (i.e. a farmers field with a fresh water supply and chemical disposal point for emptying the porta potti) rather than the club campsites.

Thanks Tony, looked at the links. Thanks to the rest of you as well (in the link). C&CC for me then! (One of my kids has got an easy job choosing my Christmas prezzie this year). As I'm doing more trips this year I need to cut costs of camping. Can't wait to get back driving again!

If you think that's complicated, wait till your "big book of sites" arrives. It's ok once you've got your head round it, but it takes a while to figure it out at first.

been a member for nearly 4 years ...since i bought the van.

been on loads of club sites...NEVER been on a bad un.

get loads of interest from people who used to have t25 and then "progressed" to big motor homes or vans.

main thing for me is that the facilities are Always spotless.....and never seen any nob eds'

I know of people leaving the Caravan Club for the same reason. What's the point in membership when the advantages are so few, or, to us, effectively none? What has consistently worked for us is to join, buy the club's campsite books, and because we don't like to book ahead (and thereby generally restrict the freedom campervanning provides), not renew our membership. The campsite guides are still very useful 8, 9, 10 yrs later.

We do rejoin ACSI though and in the form of discounts in Europe get our money back very quickly.

I joined the RAC Recovery and as part of the deal got free membership to the caravan and Camping club for me and my wife... and the rac cover is the deal they give the camping club called Arrival which means if you want to - takes you and the van you to were you were going in event of a breakdown and will collect and take you home when you have finished your hols (pre booked site - understandably) .

A few months after joining the rac I phoned to ask if my wife could be added to my RAC recovery membership as she occasionally has to drive a long way alone for work - and that was free too....

Essentially I've found membership of organisations which don't give me an advantage is a waste of money.
