Really struggling to get the cable to come out of the rear of the hub, clip is off at the grease hub end, outer sleeve just wont disengage from rear of hub.
Any one else had this problem?
Cheers
Dan

Re: Speedo cable jammed in hub
Hello Dan,
I have had this problem - even worse when putting them back in! Some of the cables are a bit thicker than others (the Italian one vs Gemo are a bit thicker I think). I'm afraid the only advice I can give is elbow grease! Last time I remember putting some grease on the end and then pushing it in a bit before pulling with all my puny little arms can manage... I think I dried off the cable and used one of those rubber mats to get a better grip....
Not much help I'm afraid, but you're not on your own!

Cheers Ewen
Finally got it, I ended up using a small metal rod to drift it out from the front.
No amount of pulling would make it move, I snapped the outer cable twice. It seemed like the plastic had welded itself to the inside of the hole.
Next problem, the hub grease cover wont stay on properly.
It wasnt fixed on when i took the hub cap off, and I cant get it to locate on. I've tried giving it a tap, but it just slides of again. Is it just a matter of giving it several hard wallops to seat it?

Re: Speedo cable jammed in hub
Hi Dan,
well done in getting it off - if you cracked the plastic cover, sounds like it was well and truly stuck! I did just tap my grease cover into place with a mallet, but I'm afraid I don't know what the proper procedure is for this and I wouldn't trust me on that one. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along soon

Re: Speedo cable jammed in hub
if cap is loose fit then you need to squeeze it slightly , ie give it a tap on the side whilst supported on the bench to slightly ovalize it and then it should be snug on the hub
