Re: Ferrys...T3 can't swim
Hello and welcome.
Go for Norfolkline Dunkerque to Dover, low cost and every two hours. Book direct with them not through a ticket agency.
If you book through an agency and have to change your journey they charge you a lot more then Norfolkline.
There are other routes such as Zeebrugge/Rotterdam - Hull. If you are going North to Scotland there are ferries to the north of England. They are always more expensive but you save fuel and time.

I don't know if its a high-top thing, or the fact that we often travel at busy times of year (girlfriend being a teacher), but I find Norfolkline is rarely the cheapest these days.
We've got our best deals recently by booking Dover-Calais crossings at unpopular hours - midnight or early morning - and then sleeping at the terminal car park in Calais before moving on. Both P&O and SeaFrance can offer very cheap prices if you do this.

Be prepared to pay to get to Ireland unless you go from Liverpool/Fleetwood to Dublin/Belfast which takes 9 hours and would drive me insane.
It cost me £160 to go from Stranrear (scotland) to Belfast (N.Ireland) then from Dublin (eire) back to Holyhead (wales) and that was over 9 months in advance and using a loophole I found on an internet discount discussion forum which is no longer available (my ferries were all with Stenaline)
