Hi Folkes. I've got a knocking which I'm almost positive is not CV joint. I've changed two of those, one last year and then run around europe with no probs and the second about a month ago. They were both the cheapest GSF had to offer.
THIS knocking doesn't sound like CV joint but it does only happened when the van's moving. Engine revs fine at a standstill and sounds really smooth. Closest I can think of is it sounds like old house heating pipes with an air-lock in them. It couldn't be air in my cooling system could it?
Any ideas?
Mike

No, I don't think so. Only knocks "Under load" but then that seems to go away if we're going faster+smoother. Which made me think lose pipe affected by vibration.
Doesn't sound like pinking either. Pretty noisy though. Came on all sudden like.

Re: Knock Knock
So. Outer CV joints sound considerably different from inner CV joints when they go...

Re: Knock Knock
Have you found the source of the knocking ? I have the same thing. I have no idea what it is but it only comes on when i press the accelerator. It has been 2000 miles with the knocking but surely it's not right ?!
