195/75/16 AT tyres, do they exist?

Trying to find some AT tyres in the above size, as this is the size tyre i've got now. Where do people get them from?
I want an AT tyre that will fit without a lift kit or any modifications.
I have found some 225/75/16. These are about 6.5% or 45mm bigger, will these foul.
195's don't seem to exist

What about 215/70/16.
Then you can really empty your wallet and get BFG AT in that size.
You can get these on a 14'' so you'd clear bigger if you wanted.

See this is what confuses me, will need to visit a local tyre shop and see what sizes have the same rolling radius.

The 195 on your tyre is just the width of the tyre. A 215/70/16 has the same rolling radius as your 195/70/16

These should fit yours, but best get it confirmed by someone else before you order.

Do like those general grabber tyres, would be good just to gather some info on what actually fits on standard 16" suspension before i buy, as the higher the first number the more tyres are available

Talk to Lee, he has a 16" and is in the know about most things. He has a set on his van, I would go BFG A/T though if I were you. Fantastic tyre

your comment on equal rolling radii is at odds with my understanding. My thoughts are:

The first number (215 or 195) is the width of the tyre in mm (as you said).

The 70 is the aspect ratio which gives the height of the tyre (above the rim) as a percentage of the width. (70% of 215 or 195 giving a difference between them of 14mm).

The third number is the rim diameter in inches (16).

Since the rolling radius is a combination rim radius and tyre height, the two tyres will have different overall diameters / rolling radii.

I may be mistaken but that is how I have always understood the sizing to work.

Yeah i've been on that. Good, but i dont really know how wide i can go before the tyres start rubbing

I'm running 235/70/16 on a 14".

The van has got about a 20mm lift over standard and ive 'relieved' my rear swing arms a bit. But they'd fit a 16" no problem.

You might not want to go that big in circumference, just thought i'd give you some food for thought.

I see the size you have work out 36mm [5%] bigger radius, presume that still keeps gear ratio's ok?

I'm getting a bit more torque from my engine these days, so the gearing change has been welcome.

I'm running standard turbo diesel gearing, 5.43 Diff, 0.78 4th gear. Doing 60mph at approx 3000rpm.
I expect your Diff is different being a 16", probably a 6.16

Although they would a touch bigger, i would be tempted to go for 225/75/16 as they are so readily available and probably more where you'd like to be with it in the future. It will up your gearing a bit, but not too much. Certainly not much different to all the people adding 15" wheels and tyres to 14" vans.

I would also strongly recommend BFG AT's, i'm well chuffed with mine!

Do you know anyone who has any 226/75/16 you might be able to test with? could be worth a try if there's anyone that can lend them?

i ran 225/75/16 on my 16" when i had the alloys first. they were a cheap at/mud and snow type tyre and i had no rub issues. overall height was pretty much the same as the 255/65/16 grabber at2`s i have now only narrower obviously.

Al, didn`t you have 225/75/16`s on the ml wheels before the bfg`s.

just to add, i`ve driven a petrol 16" with 6.16 fd`s and 225/75/16 at`s and that was geared fine. your diesel will probally not have the 6.16`s but if it has it`ll be fine on that size.

i`m on 4.86 fd`s as i`m heading toward a tdi but atm the gearing is not good for the petrol. overgearing it will kill it so be carefull.

Yeah i was running 225/75/16's before i put the AT's on.

They were a set that came on the ML alloys. They're near as damn it exactly the same size as the 235/70/16's, cant tell any difference. Other than it feeling like i've got power steering in comparison.
